"A goal without a plan is just a wish list"
-Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
So you made a list of things that you wanted to accomplish this year. That's nice. Now, how many of these things have you actually started working on? Wanting, wishing, and envisioning is not enough. That vision board you made is nothing but a depiction of what goes on in your dreams while you're alseep if you don't have a plan. What system have you put together to make sure that you have a fighting chance at accomplishing the things you've set out for yourself? Let's start at the beginning...
Sometimes we right things down, but don't have a reason why we feel like it's something we want to accomplish. When creating your list of goals, step away from social media. I know I know, you can't fathom stepping away from the platform, but do it. The things that you have set out for yourself should be set because they hold a level of importance to you and they're pushing you to become a better in the long run. Don't pick a career choice because you see how well it's been working for others. Don't choose a certain level of schooling because you see the excitement behind others. Someone else should not be the determinant of why you chose to go after something. You and someone else can go after the same thing and have two different outcomes. Because of that, create your goal around your "why." Your "why" is what pushes you to go in the direction you're going. Why you chose to stick with "this" and instead of going with "that." Create that goal, have your "why", and create your system of execution.
Let's start with something relatively simple. You want to lose some weight. Your why can range from wanting to get in shape and stay healthy to wanting to get back in those jeans and feel comfortable. So what system are you going to set up to ensure you can make this happen? How many times a week do you want to workout? what foods do you want to add or eliminate ? Do you want to give yourself a time frame to have a certain amount of weight lost? Elements like these is what will push you into action. A system is how you can keep yourself accountable. Your why reminds you of your goal's importance. Remember that your capable of doing so much, but nothing can happen if you don't set yourself up for success. Don't count yourself out before you've given yourself a chance.
