"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:5-6
We have all heard of the trust fall. This exercise is used in companies as a way to create a stronger team. All you have to do is cross your arms on your chest and fall back into the arms of the person behind you. If you want to add more excitement, close your eyes in the process.lol. Sounds simple enough right? Now what happens when you start overthinking what seems to be so simple? "Do I count to three and then fall? Do I fall straight back or tilt to the side?" Now I know what you're probably thinking: there's no way someone could make a concept so simple and make it complicated. W R O N G. Take a look at your life and tell me if you have ever overcomplicated something because you were just doing too much... Oh you need time? No worries I can wait.
We have so many different things we want to do in this life whether it's starting a new business, getting married, starting a new career, etc. We'll prepare and try to map everything out as much as possible until things stop making sense to us. "I planned to get married at 25, but I'm pushing 30 and single." "I thought singing was my calling, but I can't even handle getting up on stage." "I graduated, but no one is responding to my applications." You did your part in preparation and thought that things would happen just like that *snaps fingers*. But here's the plot twist: when preparing for certain times in your life there will be moments where stillness and silence is required. When it comes to the trust fall, how would you even know when to fall if the person didn't tell you to? In order to hear them you would need to be Q U I E T. yes guys, you need to be quiet. No I didn't say consult with everyone in your friend circle about what you should do next. I didn't say to go rogue and start making reckless choices that don't even align with what you have going on at the moment. You gotta hush!
If you've been called to do something, God will guide you in the midst of preparation. BUT in order for that to happen, you need to trust him with the things you said you wanted to accomplish. Our straight and narrow path that we create for ourselves cannot be compared to the wide and winding path God will take us on. This is why we turn to him when embarking on these life journeys instead of turning to people that can give us answers that are quick and wrong. What we can accomplish as humans can never be compared to what God can do. Once you stop looking for these popcorn ready answers from people and become still, things will start making sense. So cross those arms and fall back... God's got you.
Song of the Week: Situation by Jonathan McReynolds
I loved that analogy, God’s road is wide and winding and this is why we gotta trust Him!
Amen Amen and AMEN!
