" I know I can be what I want to be. If I work hard at it, I'll be where I want to be."
In the last post we talked about knowing better and doing better as a result. If you haven't read it yet, go ahead and do that now (I'll wait). So now that you've come to understand this concept, I think it's important to know that doing better is a process within itself. Every accomplishment doesn't need a ten step plan. Sometimes, knowing that you can do better is all you need before diving in. Let's unpack this for some clarity.
Just as useless as it can be to create a visionboard without taking time to understand the process required to execute your goals; it can also be useless to sit and overly plan. I am someone who loves to make lists, write down little steps on sticky notes, read self help books etc. Don't get me wrong, these things can be helpful, but they can also be a hinderance. There are some people that can't get past the stage of planning. If no one has told you yet, planning can be a comfortablet place to be when you're too scared to jump into execution mode.
You had a vision without a plan. Now, you have a plan without execution. Earlier this year, I learned that people tend to get stuck in planning because they're unsure of how the plan will actually pan out. Some would rather write ten business plans, take five online courses, and make two to three pages of notes of resarch rather than making the decsion to take what they have so far and start moving forward. I wrote online for about five years before I finally decided to publish my blogs. I created drafts for logos, speaking and wiriting topics, flyers for different posts I wanted to make and I ultimately let them all sit in a folder. Your plans are valuable and it's wonderful that you took the time to not only break down your vision, but create around it. Your plans become procrastination when they just stay plans. Your business plans hold less value because you haven't stepped out to network with other like minded people that could put you into the next stage of your vision.
You know better, you're doing better, but it's time to lock in. It's time to take your knowledge to the next level. Even if you feel like you don't know enough to move forward, remember that if you know what you want, that's enough to start moving. Learn along the way and Lock. In.
